Biography:

Margaret Campe is the Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology and the Center for Research on Violence Against Women. Margaret earned her Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in May of 2019. Prior to returning to academia to pursue her Ph.D., Margaret worked for both government and non-profit organizations focused on the prevention and intervention of domestic and sexual violence.

As a graduate student at UK, Margaret worked as the Project Director for a project funded by the DOJ Office on Violence Against Women, aimed at evaluating our local domestic violence shelter’s therapeutic horticulture program. Her other current research projects focus on college campus sexual assault, intersectionality, substance use and violence, and research methods. Margaret’s dissertation examined college campus sexual assault and marginalized populations, with specific focus on students with disabilities.

 

Teaching

Margaret has developed and taught the course Violence in Intimate Relationships, a class that explores how individual, community, and structural factors are related to intimate relationship violence, as well as how these factors influence response to, and prevention of such violence. Margaret also teaches Introduction to Sociology, Family Violence, and Social Inequalities.
