Jamie Pond

Biography:

Jamie is currently working on her Ph.d in Sociology. She has a master's in literature from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also obtained her bachelor's in English from VCU. Jamie has also completed her gender and women's studies graduate certificate. In addition to working on her doctorate in sociology, she is in the process of obtaining a graduate certificate in college teaching and learning.  Her research interests are: social inequalities (primarily gender), education, pop culture, and religion. Her advisors are Dr. Shaunna Scott (SOC) and Dr. Janice Oaks (GWS). She has served as president of the sociology graduate student organization and secretary of the gender and women's Studies graduate student union. For the past two years, Jamie taught GWS 201 (two sections in the fall and two in the spring) and GWS 200. This school year 2012-2013, she is teaching SOC 235/AAS 235: Inequalities in Society. She really enjoys working and engaging with students. She hopes to graduate in 2014.
