Joe Neary is a PhD Candidate in English Literature at The University of Kentucky, where he serves on the editorial team of disClosure: A Journal of Social Theory. His research centers on explorations of the self in contemporary American literature, from autofiction and autotheory, to the memoir and personal essay.  Alongside his academic work, he is a co-founding editor of the literary magazine, Flyover Country (@countryliterary), and regularly contributes creative works and criticism to other independent publications.

Prior to returning to graduate school, he spent several years working in business development and management positions, most recently in the SaaS industry.
