Robbie Carroll

Biography:

I attended Watsonville high school for my freshman and sophomore year in Watsonville. After some time of deciding we moved to South Carolina where I attended Clover High School. During my time as a freshman I was diagnosed with a heart defect and that is how I ended up playing lacrosse goalie as well as becoming a major advocate for Donate Life. I went through an 8-hour training to become an ambassador for Donate Life. Being an ambassador for Donate Life allowed me to travel to different high schools and organizations in the area and tell my story. Tell my story of how my dad passing after a heart transplant, both my sister and I having heart defects, affected me and affected what I wanted and still want to do. I played JV lacrosse goalie for a month my freshman year before moving up and playing Varsity lacrosse. During my time as a junior and senior I held the title of team captain for both years. At my short time here at UK I have been accepted into The Heather Trew Foundation, a foundation that focuses on spreading the word about donation and how truly life-changing and life-saving it is. From the experiences with my dad and being surrounded by organ donation for most of my life it has led me down a path of cardiology. My goal from college is to double major in Biology and Pre-Med and go on to med school to eventually become a Cardiothoracic surgeon.
