Research

I'm currently a sixth-year graduate student in Dr. Jeffrey Osborn's lab. My research focuses on hypertensive pregnancy disorders. Our lab works with a novel nonhuman primate model of spontaneous hypertension. We have recently discovered that the African Green Monkey also develops spontaneous gestational hypertension as well as postpartum hypertension. As hypertensive pregnancy disorders are a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide, with 99% of maternal deaths occurring in developing countries, a model similar to humans is critical to translational research.

I'm also interested in evidence-based teaching practices such as active-learning, open-problem based learning, and flipped classroom.
